Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Reliability and Maintainability Engineer to lead investigations for V-BAT field failures and complex issues. You will drive RCA investigations from problem statement through containment, root cause, corrective action, verification, and closure, interfacing with Product Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations.

Strong analytical skills and experience with structured problem-solving are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of reliability engineering or related experience
• Experience leading technical investigations for field failures or complex product problems
• Experience driving Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations from statement to closure
• Strong ability to analyze hardware, software, logs, test data, and maintenance records
• Familiarity with 5 Whys, fault tree analysis, 8D, FMEA/FMECA, FRACAS

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering investigations for V-BAT field failures, repeat defects, reliability issues, maintainability issues, and complex technical escalations
• Drive Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations including containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, verification, and closure
• Reproduce and analyze field issues using logs, returned hardware, test data, maintenance records, and environmental context
• Partner with Fleet Support, Product Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Reliability Data Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to resolve fielded system issues
• Determine whether issues are design, manufacturing, supplier quality, configuration, software, or maintenance related
• Document failure modes, root cause, actions, verification plans, and recurrence-prevention measures
• Lead or support returned material analysis, teardown reviews, bench testing, inspection planning
• Communicate findings, risks, corrective actions, and verification status to technical teams and leadership
