Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Stevenson, AL seeks a Pressure Vessel and Mechanical Integrity Engineer to lead the site’s vessel/tank integrity program and the safety relief valve program. You will drive compliance with ASME, API, and OSHA PSM standards and coordinate inspections across vessels, tanks, and piping.

You will develop risk-based inspection plans, maintain documentation, and partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS to mitigate integrity risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API inspection standards, OSHA PSM, and mechanical integrity principles.
• Experience managing inspection programs, regulatory compliance activities, and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to drive corrective actions to closure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills communicating complex technical information.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site's Pressure Vessel and Tank Integrity Program and ensure continuous improvement.
• Manage the Safety Relief Valve Integrity Program including inspection, testing, repair, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, API, OSHA PSM, and corporate mechanical integrity standards.
• Coordinate inspections of vessels, tanks, piping, and relief devices.
• Develop inspection schedules, risk-based inspection plans, and maintain records.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and EHS to mitigate integrity risks.
• Analyze failures to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Provide guidance on repair, alteration, and fitness-for-service evaluations.
