Job summary

Antares is seeking a reliability engineer to own quantitative reliability analysis for the R1 microreactor, establish targets for systems and components, and translate them into measurable requirements. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied mathematics, physics, statistics, or a related technical field.
• Experience performing reliability, root cause analysis, failure analysis, statistical analysis, or similar quantitative engineering work on complex hardware systems.
• Working knowledge of statistics, probability, failure modes, and reliability engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to understand mechanical and electrical systems well enough to evaluate likely failure mechanisms and reliability risks.
• Ability to analyze technical data, develop quantitative conclusions, and communicate recommendations to engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Own quantitative reliability analysis for the reactor and plant
• Establish reliability targets for systems and components
• Translate targets into measurable reliability requirements for subsystems
• Develop and maintain reliability models and analyses (RBDs, FTA, FMEA/FMECA)
• Calculate and track reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, availability)
• Identify high-impact failure modes and drive improvement plans
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and test teams
• Evaluate design alternatives for reliability and maintainability
• Perform sensitivity analyses to identify drivers of downtime
• Develop reliability predictions from test data, supplier data, and field experience
• Define test strategies for reliability demonstration and qualification
• Update models with operational data to improve predictions
• Lead or support DFMEA, FMEA, FMECA and related analyses
• Work with design teams to identify single-point failures and redundancy gaps
• Assess degradation mechanisms including fatigue, wear, corrosion, thermal cycling, radiation
• Develop reliability growth plans and track progress
• Inform decisions on redundancy, sparing, maintenance intervals, and repairs
• Communicate reliability risks and recommendations to leadership
• Lead reliability standards and best practices
