Job summary

Fireworks AI is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of our cloud-scale platforms supporting open AI models. You will design SLOs, automate incident response, and drive production readiness across services.

You’ll collaborate with AI research, infrastructure, and product teams to reduce toil, improve observability, and accelerate safe deployment at scale. This role sits in our San Mateo area and offers broad ownership and impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years with Linux internals, performance troubleshooting, and networking fundamentals.
• 5+ years in Python, Go, C++, or Rust writing production-grade tools.
• Experience operating Kubernetes, Terraform, and Docker at scale.
• Understanding of distributed systems, high-availability design, and SLO/SLA management.
• Ability to influence across teams with practical tooling and credibility.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar stack areas as needed.

Responsibilities

• Define reliability standards: SLOs, error budgets, production readiness.
• Own the reliability toolchain: logging, telemetry, alerting, failure testing.
• Coordinate incident management and postmortems, track follow-ups.
• Reduce toil by automating operational work and improving observability.
• Collaborate across cloud infra, AI systems, and product teams for reliable rollout.
