Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Colorado is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join the central specialty engineering team, driving mission success through reliability-centered analysis and design. As a Reliability Engineer, You Will
  • Drive Mission Success: Support multiple space programs by providing reliability-centric recommendations and analysis within a highly collaborative specialty engineering team.
  • Shape System Architecture: Perform technical trade studies and evaluations of potential system architectures during early program development.
  • Model Complex Systems: Develop, coordinate, and execute reliability modeling, simulations, and predictions as part of the central reliability team.
  • Influence Hardware Design: Recommend advanced design variations, test methods (such as HALT/HASS), and statistical process control procedures to maximize product lifespan.
  • Evaluate Program Technicalities: Assess both internal and external designs to ensure overall compliance with mission requirements and government agency objectives.
  • Transform Raw Data: Compile and analyze performance reports, process control statistics, and flight/test variables affecting products.
  • Architect Predictive Risk Models: Develop mathematical and statistical models to isolate hardware units, batches, or software processes posing excessive failure risks.

Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with Spacecraft, Missile, or similar complex systems and associated analyses
  • Experience with reliability and/or availability analyses and products such as FMEA, FTA, predictions, etc.
  • Experience interfacing with multi-functional teams and organizations
  • Willingness/ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret security clearance; US Citizenship Required
Desired Skills
  • Experience in management and generation of at least 6 of the following products: Reliability Program Plans, Predictions, Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Availability, Maintainability Analysis and Predictions, Fault Tree Analysis, Probability Risk Assessment (PRA)
  • Familiarity with industry standards (i.e.; MIL-HDBK-217, Milt-STD-1629, MIL-STD-1543, MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472)
  • Experience applying statistics to decision making processes
  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker with the ability to select and apply appropriate systems thinking skills to solve problems and implement constructive change
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
  • Active or Current security clearance (TS/SCI or higher)
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
