Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Denver, CO seeks a Reliability Engineer to lead reliability studies and programs, developing mathematical models and advocating design improvements for mission-critical space systems.

The role requires deep experience in reliability disciplines, FMECA, PRA, and standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, with a TS/SCI eligible citizenship. Expect collaboration across disciplines on complex defense projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience in five of the following listed reliability domains.
  • Reliability Program Plans and Reliability Predictions & Analysis.
  • Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
  • Critical Items List and Availability/Maintainability Analysis.
  • Fault Tree Analysis and Probability Risk Assessment (PRA).
  • MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-1629, MIL-STD-1543, MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472 familiarity.
  • Application of probability and statistics for sample size, burn-in, and failure analyses.
  • ANSI/VITA 51.1 RAC factors and reliability modernization techniques.
  • Spacecraft/Missile domain experience; leadership of small reliability projects.
  • U.S. Citizenship with willingness/ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small Reliability team or project within Special Disciplines.
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct reliability studies and DOE evaluations.
  • Recommend design/test methods and SPC procedures for reliability goals.
  • Compile and analyze performance reports and process control statistics.
  • Ensure corrective actions meet reliability standards.
  • Develop reliability programs to meet company, customer, and government objectives.
  • Develop mathematical models to identify high-risk units/batches.
  • Suggest design/formulation changes to improve reliability.
  • Determine units/batches requiring environmental testing and sampling.

As a Reliability Engineer, You Will
  • Work within the Special Disciplines team and may lead a small Reliability team or project
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs.
  • Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
  • Compile and evaluate performance reports and process control statistics; investigate and analyze relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes
  • Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards
  • Evaluate preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives
  • Develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks
  • Propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability
  • Determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

  • Application of probability and statistics to support decisions regarding sample size, burn-in life testing and failure analysis investigations
  • Reliability modernization techniques such as ANSI/VITA 51.1 or RAC factors
  • US Citizenship with the willingness/ability to acquire and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance

  • Proven behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to tackle very sophisticated problems and implement constructive change
  • Missile or space segment design and test experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering
  • Active or Current TS/SCI clearance
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
