Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Senior Reliability & Automation Technician to support rubber molding operations onsite. You will diagnose and repair hydraulic molding presses and PLC systems, troubleshoot I/O, VFDs, sensors, and contribute to uptime.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial maintenance including rubber molding, plus Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLC skills. You will lead overhauls, manage PM/PdM, mentor technicians, and uphold safety standards in a high-temperature,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in industrial plant maintenance, including 2+ years in rubber molding, plastic injection molding, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Fluency with hydraulic schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic layouts.
  • Verified LOTO training; forklift, aerial lift, and overhead crane certifications preferred.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic molding presses and components.
  • Troubleshoot I/O, VFDs, sensors, relays, and PLCs up to 480V.
  • Maintain steam boiler lines, heated platens, cooling systems.
  • Lead complex overhauls and upgrades, replace bearings and gearboxes.
  • Run PM/PdM programs and document work.
  • Audit spare parts and mentor junior technicians.
  • Champion safety and site procedures.

Senior Reliability & Automation Technician — Rubber Molding OperationsWhere: Chicago, IL (Onsite) | When: Day Shift, 4:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | Type: Full-Time, Direct HireReady to drive uptime?Do you excel at decoding PLC ladder logic, taming high-pressure hydraulics, and leading others through urgent line recoveries? If so, you’ll thrive supporting our rubber molding production assets.What you will doDiagnose and repair multi-stage hydraulic molding presses, accumulators, cylinders, directional valves, and proportional pumps.Work across automation and controls: troubleshoot I/O, VFDs, sensors, relays, and PLC systems up to 480V; interpret and resolve PLC ladder logic issues.Maintain thermal and utility systems: steam boiler lines, electric heating platens, temperature controllers, hot oil units, and cooling tower circuits.Lead complex overhauls and rebuilds—swap large bearings, gearboxes, and drive shafts; service automated transport mechanisms.Plan and execute safe heavy rigging to relocate or realign presses and auxiliary equipment.Run preventive and predictive maintenance via CMMS; document work thoroughly and optimize PM/PdM strategies.Audit spare parts inventory; spearhead emergency troubleshooting during active production breakdowns.Assign work orders, track progress, and mentor junior maintenance technicians.Champion safety: follow LOTO, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and site procedures; keep the shop clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
