Job summary

Sun Life U.S. is seeking a Sr. Release Engineer to own end-to-end release governance across multiple software teams and environments.

You will lead delivery, ensure readiness, and coordinate with development, QA, operations, and stakeholders to minimize risk and drive compliant deployments. Candidates should have a Master’s or Bachelor degree with several years in release management, DevOps, SDLC, and Agile, plus hands-on scripting (PowerShell) and tools like TFS and ANT Migration Tool.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS or related engineering field with 3 years of release-related experience; or Bachelor’s with 5 years progressive experience in release management/DevOps.
• Scripting with PowerShell; code merge and conflict resolution; release management, DevOps, or environment management in enterprise settings; SDLC, governance, and change management; familiar with Agile.
• Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Salesforce Release process, ANT Migration Tool; knowledge of release governance and risk management in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead software release delivery across multiple teams and environments; ensure alignment with business priorities and governance standards.
• Coordinate dependencies, risks, approvals, testing, documentation, and deployment schedules.
• Facilitate production readiness, go/no-go decisions, environment stability, and release performance monitoring; drive automation opportunities.
• Mentor and cross-train IT staff on end-to-end release lifecycle; drive continuous process improvements.
• Communicate transparently with stakeholders and governance bodies to ensure compliant and low-risk deployments.
• Handle cross-functional collaboration with development, QA, operations, and business stakeholders.
