Job summary

Asplundh Electrical Testing is seeking a Senior Relay Technician to ensure safe, reliable operation of medium- and high-voltage substations through hands-on protection testing, commissioning, and maintenance. You will lead field teams, guide outage work, and uphold safety standards across utility sectors.

The role requires 5+ years in protective relaying, experience with 5kV–500kV systems, and a strong understanding of modern relay test platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in protective relaying for utility substations.
• Experience testing medium- to high-voltage protection systems (5kV–500kV).
• Strong knowledge of modern relay testing platforms and microprocessor-based relays.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety briefings and maintain a safety-first field culture.
• Perform testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protection systems.
• Test and validate transmission and distribution protection schemes.
• Verify control and protection circuits for transformers, breakers, feeders.
• Support outage planning, energization, and restoration activities.
• Create test reports and field documentation; mentor onsite technicians.
