Job summary

Starr Indemnity & Liability Company seeks an experienced professional for a senior role in reinsurance accounting and analytics. You will ensure accurate processing of multinational reinsurance transactions, maintain ledgers, and support compliance and reporting to senior leadership and the board.

The position emphasizes technical accounting expertise, collaboration across teams, and opportunities to lead process improvements, audits, and system enhancements in a global insurer.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience in re/insurance.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field preferred.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Strong financial reporting experience.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (Excel).
• Ability to communicate financial insights to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Process and post reinsurance ledger transactions for Assumed and Ceded.
• Prepare and review journal entries and GL maintenance.
• Manage reinsurance settlements and open recoverables/payables.
• Perform reconciliations and monitor aged balances.
• Support month/quarter/year-end close processes.
• Ensure regulatory/compliance in financial reporting.
• Prepare financial statements and audit support.
• Provide guidance on policies and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Participate in system upgrades and strategic initiatives.
