Qualifications

• Audit experience including healthcare audits preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and reconcile financial data used in Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
• Respond to auditors and prepare supporting documentation for adjustments.
• Perform full-cycle accounting across multiple entities including reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Senior Reimbursement & Accounting Specialist

East LA, Hybrid

A healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Reimbursement & Accounting Specialist to join its Business Solutions team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who brings a strong foundation in general ledger accounting and financial close, along with hands-on audit and reimbursement experience.

The position will play a key role in supporting Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, responding to reimbursement audits, and ensuring financial data is accurate, reconciled, and well-supported. Experience within skilled nursing, long-term care, or another healthcare environment is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

• Gather, analyze, and reconcile financial data used in Medicare and Medicaid cost reports
• Respond directly to Medicare/Medicaid and other regulatory auditors, including researching requests, preparing supporting documentation, and addressing proposed adjustments
• Perform and support full-cycle accounting across multiple entities, including monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation, and financial reporting
• Apply a strong understanding of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process to identify, source, and reconcile financial information
• Prepare required reports for county and other governmental agencies
• Partner cross-functionally with General Accounting, AP, Payroll, Internal Audit, Finance, and operational leadership
• Analyze large financial datasets and assist with management reporting and dashboard validation
• Support special projects and broader accounting initiatives as needed

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including strong GL and financial close experience
• Strong experience with balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Audit experience required; government, Medicare/Medicaid, or healthcare audit exposure strongly preferred
• Experience within skilled nursing, long-term care, or healthcare highly preferred
• Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting or reimbursement experience is a major plus
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
