Job summary

ASRC Energy Services, LLC seeks a Senior Regulatory Specialist to lead environmental permitting and agency coordination for complex Alaska projects, focusing on mining developments and related infrastructure. You will develop permitting strategies, manage schedules, and align engineering with regulatory inputs.

The role requires working with senior technical staff, mentoring juniors, and traveling within Alaska as needed to meet commitments and client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural resources, engineering, geology, or a related field.
  • Eight years of relevant experience in environmental permitting, regulatory affairs, or environmental consulting.
  • Experience permitting mining projects preferred, with related infrastructure and multiple agencies.
  • Ability to develop permitting strategies and translate technical information into regulatory submissions.
  • Knowledge of Alaska and federal environmental and land use permitting processes.
  • Ability to coordinate with engineering teams and identify permitting gaps and risks.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills for briefings and meetings.
  • Ability to work autonomously and travel within Alaska.

Responsibilities

  • Lead permitting strategy and execution for large, complex projects, especially mining developments and related facilities.
  • Develop permit inventories, requirements matrices, engagement plans, and schedules; identify dependencies and critical-path approvals.
  • Manage permit applications, analyses, agency responses, and compliance documentation; align inputs with project design and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate environmental review and NEPA documentation with federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Engage with Alaska state and federal agencies.
  • Serve as primary regulatory contact for clients; lead meetings and communicate options and risks.
  • Work with senior staff, engineers, and subcontractors on regulatory deliverables; manage scope and budgets.
  • Support zero-incident safety culture and operational commitments.
