Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited US law school.
  • Active license to practice law in TX.
  • 7+ years of legal experience for Senior Counsel; 8+ years for Assistant General Counsel.
  • Experience in the electric utility or energy sector preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent AEP Texas in proceedings before the Public Utility Commission.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on business initiatives.
  • Lead contract negotiations for major projects and provide strategic legal advice on business initiatives.
  • Oversee compliance programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from agencies such as the FERC and state public utility commissions.
  • Represent regulated subsidiaries in proceedings before federal or state regulatory agencies.
  • Manage litigation processes and coordinate with outside counsel on significant disputes.
  • Develop training and compliance programs for employees related to industry regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of legal strategies with business objectives.

Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited US law school
Active Texas bar license to practice law
