Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to lead design, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility refrigeration and related systems across the regional footprint.

You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, and external vendors to drive reliability, efficiency, and modernization, while meeting safety and regulatory standards and supporting capital projects.

Qualifications

• 5 years of industrial refrigeration or cold chain engineering experience.
• Experience with ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, HVAC/mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Experience managing multi-site operations and technical teams.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, IIAR, energy efficiency and automation.
• Experience with CMMS systems, maintenance planning, and capital project execution.
• This role requires approximately >40% travel during the initial years.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational systems.
• Provide advanced technical expertise for infrastructure, automation, controls, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, EHS and vendors to execute improvements.
• Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and improve uptime and efficiency.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Develop engineering standards, documentation, and system specifications.
• Support capital projects from concept through startup.
• Evaluate modernization strategies and emerging technologies.
• Ensure safety, environmental, regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with leadership on long-range infrastructure strategies.
• Mentor engineering and maintenance teams; coordinate external contractors.
