Job summary

Louisiana Department of Health seeks a senior legal advisor to provide advanced legal direction on health law matters across LDH Regions 3 (and backup for Region 2). The role requires a current Louisiana license and 4+ years as a practicing attorney, with deep health-law expertise and experience handling high-profile matters.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current Louisiana license to practice law and four years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Broad and intensive experience in health law across all phases of the legal process.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior legal counsel for LDH Region 3 and backup counsel for LDH Region 2, supporting facilities across multiple parishes.
• Provide independent, highly technical legal direction, advice, consultation, and assistance on complex health law matters.
• Offer legal counsel and representation to major LDH programs including Behavioral Health, Medicaid, Public Health, and Women’s Health.
• Advise regional leadership and program admins on legal issues, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Research and interpret applicable federal/state laws and precedents related to health care and LDH programs.
• Provide technical legal advice to Executive Counsel, General Counsel, and Deputy General Counsels on high-profile matters.
• Perform high-level professional duties supporting LDH’s mission and regional operations.
