Job summary

LAUSD's Project Execution group delivers the District's school construction and modernization projects. As Senior Regional Construction Scheduler, you report to the Senior Construction Manager of Scheduling and Estimating, supervise the Project Schedulers, and work with Owner's Authorized Representatives, Senior Project Managers, and site staff on the review of contractor schedules.

This is a full-time, in-person position.

Qualifications

• 10 years of full-time professional construction scheduling experience, preferably on educational facilities or public works.
• Experience with time impact analysis and critical path.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare schedule reports for upper management and key milestones.
• Supervise Project Schedulers and coordinate with OARs, Sr Project Managers, and site staff on Reviews.
• Read construction drawings to understand scope and review P6 baseline schedules.
• Review monthly updates, provide written comments on milestones and CP slippage.
• Perform time impact analysis using the windows method and maintain program schedules.

Job description

LAUSD's Project Execution group delivers the District's school construction and modernization projects. As Senior Regional Construction Scheduler, you report to the Senior Construction Manager of Scheduling and Estimating, help supervise the Project Schedulers, and work with Owner's Authorized Representatives, Senior Project Managers, and site staff on the review of contractor schedules.

You read the construction drawings to understand the scope, review contractor Primavera P6 baseline schedules and monthly updates on LAUSD's structured review templates, and perform time impact analysis using the windows method, which measures how each delay moved the finish date, in a detailed write-up. You decide whether work is in or out of scope and whether a paid or unpaid time extension has merit, and you develop and update the program and master schedules and the reports upper management uses to track key milestones.

This is a full-time, in-person position.

What You Will Own

• Schedule reports for upper management on key performance milestones
• Help supervising the Project Schedulers so project timelines are met, and coordination with OARs, Senior Project Managers, and site staff on schedule reviews
• Reading of detailed construction drawings (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil) to understand the scope
• Review of contractor P6 baseline schedules for missing scope, logic, or milestones, with critical path analysis, cost loading review, and written comments on LAUSD's structured review templates
• Review of contractor P6 monthly updates, with written comments on milestone and critical path slippage and an overall schedule analysis on LAUSD's templates
• Time impact analysis by the windows method, using contemporaneous or forensic schedule data, in a detailed write-up
• Review of whether work is in or out of scope, and whether a paid or unpaid time extension has merit under the contract
• Program schedules with relationships, logic, milestones, and constraints, developed, maintained, and updated
• Regular status updates to program and master schedules
• Correct use of program-level codes, layouts, and reports so the schedule data stays accurate
• Schedule discussions at regular meetings, reports for senior management, and site visits to check the contractor's monthly progress

Requirements

• 10 years of full-time professional construction scheduling experience for an owner or a general contractor, preferably on educational facility or public works projects (required for this role)
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 version 19 and Microsoft Office (required for this role)
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in any field plus 4 additional years of this experience (required for this role)
• An understanding of cost engineering, scheduling, and schedule forensics
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organization and planning, and the ability to build good working relationships with project teams and department staff
