Job summary

Bahnson Mechanical Systems is seeking an experienced Refrigeration/HVAC Service Technician to perform maintenance and repair operations on complex heating and cooling systems and related controls. You will execute duties in accordance with policies, practices, processes, and applicable laws.

Key duties include troubleshooting medium and low-temperature systems, preventive maintenance, coordinating inspections with the Service Coordinator, and maintaining compliant documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of refrigeration and HVAC system servicing, installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• EPA approved CFC certification.
• Knowledge of BOCA code and OSHA safety regulations.
• Ability to coordinate multiple activities and stay calm during emergencies.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on medium and low-temperature refrigeration systems, including walk-in freezers, coolers, rooftop units, heat pumps, DX systems, and pneumatic/electrical controls.
• Diagnose causes of equipment breakdowns, test parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and reassemble components, and complete repairs.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and inspections per maintenance agreements while adhering to budgets.
• Obtain directives from Service Coordinator and help schedule inspections based on location, priorities, and materials.
• Ensure timely maintenance inspections and proper departure/arrival procedures.
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance of the service vehicle and tools.
• Obtain purchase orders and manage small purchases; inventory truck stock as required.
• Maintain documentation such as time records, work orders, refrigerant accountability logs, and equipment returns.
• Keep the Service Coordinator informed of whereabouts and progress.
• Attend periodic meetings with supervision to review progress and issues.
• Adhere to all safety rules and attend required safety meetings.
