University of Rochester is seeking a patient referral specialist within the SMH Neurology Sleep Center. The role coordinates referrals, schedules visits, and ensures insurance authorization and proper Epic documentation.

You will analyze data on patient compliance and support care team communications while maintaining adherence to enterprise standards. The position emphasizes patient advocacy, timely scheduling, and collaboration with clinical staff to optimize care delivery within URMC’s care

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience required
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Medical Terminology, experience with surgical/appointment scheduling software and electronic medical records preferred

Responsabilités

• Serves as liaison, appointment coordinator, and patient advocate between referring office, specialists and patient to coordinate visits and procedures
• Acquires insurance authorization for visits and tests and records in Epic
• Maintains expert level understanding of department and adheres to referral protocols
• Backups scheduling team when short-staffed and supports data analyses on patient compliance with treatment plans
• Documents communications pertaining to referrals and insurance in Epic notes
