A leading IT services company is seeking a Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Engineer contractor to support Red Hat servers and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in troubleshooting Linux/Red Hat issues, performance monitoring, and technical support in a VMware environment. This full-time role focuses on collaboration within the IT engineering team and offers competitive benefits in Chesterfield Court House, Virginia.

Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux Contractor

Title: Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Engineer – Contractor in support of Red Hat servers and infrastructure

Description: Works with IT engineering team to implement and provide support to agency’s IT system infrastructure.

Performs day-to-day activities related to the support, research, analysis, and implementation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems

Considerable knowledge, experience, and understanding of working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (Red Hat) in a VMware environment is require. This includes:

• In-depth Experience with troubleshooting Linux/Red Hat problems.
• In-depth experience with Linux/LVM concepts of UNIX file structure.
• Thorough knowledge of and in-depth experience with performance monitoring,
  
  

system testing, OS upgrade, and software patch Installation and testing in a Red Hat environment.

• In-depth experience with standard server networking protocols.
• In-depth experience with medium to large-scale Linux/Red Hat environments.
• Vast experience with providing technical support.
• Experience working with and writing Shell (e.g.: Perl, Bash, etc) scripting.
• Excellent communicative & collaborative skills
