Job summary

City of Copperas Cove, Texas is seeking a Recycling Operations Supervisor to assist the Residential Operations Superintendent. The role involves supervising recycling staff, planning, coordinating, and directing activities to provide recycle services to residents and businesses in Copperas Cove in compliance with MSW rules and city ordinances.

The position requires three years in solid waste operations with supervisory experience preferred, and a State Class B CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in solid waste operations required; at least one (1) year of supervisory experience preferred or equivalent education and experience combination.

Responsibilities

• Supervise recycling staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Oversee collection, sorting, processing, and disposal of recyclable materials according to guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal environmental regulations and City policies.
• Monitor and maintain recycling equipment and arrange repairs or maintenance as needed.
• Prepare reports on recycling volumes, operational issues, and safety incidents.
• Promote safety practices and conduct safety meetings and inspections.
• Collaborate with facilities, agencies, and community organizations.
• Resolve operational problems and customer or community concerns related to recycling services.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Operate recycle trucks and equipment at Transfer Station per regulations.
• Train new personnel and ensure current personnel are trained in collection and safety requirements.
