Job summary

The State of Hawaiʻi is seeking a qualified Recreational Therapist with supervisory responsibilities to manage the recreational therapy program within a health institution.

This role requires directing therapeutic activities, coordinating allied services, and leading a small staff, under administrative supervision. A comprehensive federal/state working environment is provided, with a focus on patient-centered care and program development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, psychology or sociology with at least 12 semester hours in recreation or therapy oriented areas.
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in a recreational therapy program.
  • At least one year at the journey worker level performing full scope of recreational therapy duties.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate recreational therapy programs and allied services.
  • Provide direct therapeutic activities and supervise staff involved in the program.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and evaluative reporting.
