Job summary

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and its Child Study and Treatment Center in Lakewood, WA seek a Recreation Therapist 2 to provide comprehensive recreational therapy services. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapy to support patient wellbeing.

Join a multidisciplinary team, lead 15–20 activities weekly, perform 1:2 or 2:1 interventions, document progress, and supervise therapy students and volunteers in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Must hold CTRS certification from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation and be registered with the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Graduated from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation program with at least 18 months of professional experience.
  • Ability to lead groups, de-escalate crisis, and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex assessments of patients and develop plans of care.
  • Organize and lead 15-20 recreational therapy activities weekly.
  • Conduct 1:2 or 2:1 recreation therapy interventions as recommended by the treatment team.
  • Document client progress in the chart and participate in weekly clinical meetings.
  • Plan community integration and coordinate supervision of students and volunteers.
