Job summary

The City of Oak Harbor is seeking a professional Recreation Supervisor to lead the Recreation Division, guiding programs, facilities, and staff to serve residents of all ages. You will manage budgets, ensure safe operations, and foster community partnerships to deliver inclusive, high-quality recreation experiences throughout Oak Harbor.

You will supervise personnel, oversee special events, and coordinate with the Parks and Recreation Director to align division goals with City objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports, business, fitness, or related field.
  • Five years of experience managing programs, including budget oversight and supervision of staff and volunteers.
  • One year administrative experience with cash handling and receipt management.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, Food Handler’s Permit, and certified food protection manager within three months of hire.
  • Passport Acceptance Agent certification within three months of hire.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) within twelve months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and ability to provide driving abstract.
  • Background screening including credit check and WA child/vulnerable adult abuse checks prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Recreation Division under the Parks and Recreation Director.
  • Supervise division personnel including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee program development and evaluation to meet community needs.
  • Develop and monitor the Recreation Division budget and revenues.
  • Oversee facilities, equipment, and scheduling within The Center and related rentals.
  • Manage registration systems, records, and safety/compliance procedures.
  • Coordinate special events, permits, and partnerships with city departments and partners.
  • Lead marketing, outreach, and community engagement for division programs.
  • Oversee services for The Center and 50+ community groups and partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with city policies, ordinances, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports and communicate Division needs to the Parks and Recreation Director.
