Job summary

The City of Oak Harbor is seeking a Recreation Supervisor to provide leadership for the Recreation Division, managing programs, facilities, and staff to serve residents of all ages. This role oversees budgets, purchasing, and compliance, while driving community engagement and partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 5+ years of program management experience, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports, business, fitness, or related field.
• Five years of experience managing programs and supervising staff and volunteers.
• One year of cash handling and receipt management.
• Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid; Food Handler’s Permit within three months; Passport Acceptance Agent within three months; CPRP/CPRE within twelve months.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Background screening including credit check and state/federal checks prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for the Recreation Division, including programs, facilities, operations, and personnel.
• Oversee budget development, revenues, expenditures, and financial controls.
• Lead programming for all ages, ensuring alignment with department goals.
• Manage recreation facilities, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
• Coordinate marketing, outreach, and community engagement efforts.
• Build partnerships with schools, senior centers, health organizations, and community groups.
