Job summary

The City of Ontario invites applications for a Senior Recreation/Community Services Supervisor to oversee citywide recreation and community services programs and events. You will supervise staff, assist with budgets and grants, and collaborate with community agencies.

The role requires an associate’s degree in recreation or related field, 5 years in coordinating programs, and a CA driver’s license. Bilingual Spanish is a plus. The department emphasizes customer service and community impact.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to an associate’s degree in recreation, physical education, public administration, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in coordinating recreation and community services programs, including supervision of recreation staff.
• Valid Class C California driver’s license at time of appointment or as required.
• Acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment.
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certifications within six months of employment.
• Ability to work flexible and weekend hours as needed.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develops, markets, evaluates, and oversees a variety of citywide recreation and community service programs and facilities.
• Supervises and directs activities of assigned staff, including selection, assignments, performance evaluation, and development.
• Assists with budget preparation, monitoring, and data compilation; participates in grant writing and funding opportunities.
• Maintains knowledge of trends and best practices; evaluates impact on operations and recommends changes.
• Oversees facility operations and may manage a community facility with multiple programs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
