Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Exchange team to build and operate real-time trading systems powering institutional exchange activities. You will own critical infrastructure such as matching, order management, market data, and funding rate computation.

You’ll collaborate with Product and senior engineering leadership to deliver quarterly milestones, and contribute to a performance-focused backend environment with a strong emphasis on latency and throughput.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in production trading, exchange, or financial infrastructure systems.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Java, C++, or Go with latency optimization.
• Track record designing and operating highly reliable distributed systems at scale.
• Experience partnering with Product and cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects.
• Genuine interest in crypto and institutional markets; crypto experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate low-latency, event-sourced trading systems across cloud and colocated environments.
• Own the reliability and correctness of production systems processing high-throughput data 24/7.
• Partner with Product, Infrastructure, and leadership to translate strategy into milestones.
• Drive technical design decisions within your domain and build consensus.
• Write high-quality, well-tested backend code focused on latency and throughput.
