Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Exchange team to build and operate real-time trading systems powering the institutional exchange. You will own components like matching engines, order management, and market data, shipping features that expand Coinbase's trading capabilities.

You will work with cross-functional partners to translate strategy into quarterly milestones, ensure production reliability, and contribute to a high-performance, latency-sensitive backend ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production trading or financial infrastructure systems.
• Backend proficiency in Java, C++, or Go with JVM/Linux performance tuning experience.
• Experience designing and operating highly reliable distributed systems processing high volumes.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate low-latency trading systems covering matching, orders, risk, and market data.
• Own reliability and correctness of production systems processing high-throughput data 24/7.
• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, and leadership to convert strategy into deliverables.
• Drive technical design decisions and build consensus with peers.
• Write high-quality, tested backend code focused on latency and throughput.
