Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Eater Real Time Pricing team to own surge pricing algorithms that keep Uber's delivery marketplace healthy and responsive.

You will lead end-to-end pricing and forecasting workstreams, define the real-time decision signals for matching, courier pricing, and promotions, and mentor other engineers.

This role includes bonuses, equity, a 401(k) plan, and diverse benefits; on US locations, in-office presence is typical unless remote work is approved.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software experience in real-time data processing.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python.
• Experience leading multi-quarter, cross-team design and delivery.
• Experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency production services.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of major surge pricing and forecasting workstreams end-to-end.
• Set technical direction for real-time pricing systems with high throughput and low latency.
• Drive engineering rigor through design reviews and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with Applied Science, Product, and Ops to productionize models and insights.
• Mentor engineers and grow the team through code reviews and guidance.
• Identify and reduce structural technical debt while balancing long-term health with speed.
