Socket.dev seeks a Mission Systems Software Engineer to craft real-time software for autonomous aircraft, integrating sensors, navigation, and mission management with hardware and software teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in embedded, distributed, real-time, safety-critical, or mission-critical software systems.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Rust, or another strongly typed systems programming language.
• Knowledge of real-time software principles including scheduling, latency, jitter, and deterministic execution.
• Experience with embedded operating systems, networking, data distribution, and APIs.
• Ability to define software architectures, interfaces, and data flows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as software mission systems engineer for a real-time mission-computing system aligned withDoD and aerospace standards.
• Define and maintain end-to-end software architecture, APIs, and hardware-abstraction layers.
• Architect for deterministic performance managing schedules, latency, and资源 utilization.
• Develop architecture views, data-flow models, and verification records.
• Integrate sensors, navigation, autonomy, and mission management with hardware and software teams.
• Design for resilience, fault detection, redundancy, and cybersecurity considerations.
• Establish engineering practices for concurrency, memory management, and configuration control.
• Execute verification strategies across labs, simulations, flight tests, and deployed systems.
• Maintain ownership through technology evaluation, modernization, and communication of decisions.
