Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Simulation and HIL Integration Engineer to build high-fidelity machine and sensor models for autonomous validation. You will deploy these models on HIL platforms, integrate MATLAB/Simulink control models, and lead validation efforts across autonomy software teams.

The role requires expertise in real-time simulation, sensor modeling (LiDAR), and networked control, with a focus on improving fidelity, repeatability, and integration efficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, robotics, mechatronics or related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing HIL systems or real-time simulation environments.
• Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, IsaacSim/IsaacLab, dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink.
• Strong knowledge of CAN/J1939/LIN/Ethernet/TCP/IP networks and real-time data acquisition tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate, and deploy machine models in Hardware-in-the-Loop platforms for autonomous validation.
• Configure and support dSPACE-based real-time simulation and HIL platforms.
• Develop and maintain virtual validation environments using NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac tools.
• Integrate MATLAB/Simulink models into HIL environments and validate sensor simulations including LiDAR.
• Create automated tools to verify simulation-model functionality and timing.
