Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Software Architect for Real-Time and Embedded Systems in Wendell, NC. You will lead the design of embedded software for protection, automation, monitoring, and communication in critical infrastructure, driving decisions across OS, stacks, and hardware platforms.

You’ll collaborate with global teams, mentor engineers, and help establish scalable, reusable software solutions while ensuring real-time performance and cybersecurity compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience developing software for embedded, industrial, real-time, or other technical systems.
• Proficiency in C++, preferably C++17 or C++20.
• Strong software architecture, OO design, patterns, and modern practices.
• Embedded OS including embedded Linux, HALs, and system-level debugging.
• Real-time systems, concurrency, resource management, and deterministic execution.
• 3–5 years of experience evaluating architectural trade‑offs and designing scalable architectures.
• Analytical communication and problem-solving across global teams.
• Cybersecurity principles and secure software design for critical infrastructure.
• Eligibility to travel internationally for initial training.
• Legal work authorization in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain architecture for embedded software components, subsystems, application software, communication services, OS, and platform infrastructure.
• Design software meeting real-time, reliability, cybersecurity, performance, verification, and quality requirements for critical infrastructure.
• Guide architectural decisions, trade-offs, platform evolution, and software reuse across long‑lived products.
• Collaborate with product owners, system architects, protection experts, and teams to translate requirements into scalable software.
• Support system integration, verification, performance optimization, and release activities to improve quality and efficiency.
• Mentor engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and provide architectural direction across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with international R&D and cross-functional stakeholders.
