Job summary

Baxter Aerospace is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and test embedded software for flight computers and mission-critical systems in a hands-on role. The candidate should have strong C programming skills, extensive microcontroller experience, and a background in embedded systems development.

This is a non-entry level position that requires collaboration with hardware and avionics teams to deliver high-performance software compliant with aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional embedded software development experience.
• Expertise in C programming for embedded systems (required).
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers.
• Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) and real-time scheduling.
• Familiarity with debugging tools like JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software for flight computers with emphasis on real-time performance and reliability.
• Write and optimize C code for microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M or similar).
• Implement drivers, bootloaders, and middleware for peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, GPIO).
• Integrate algorithms into embedded applications for navigation, control, and data processing.
• Debug software on custom hardware with hardware team collaboration.
• Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing of embedded software.
• Ensure compliance with safety-critical aerospace standards and real-time requirements.
• Participate in system architecture design and code reviews.
