Job summary

Draper seeks a software engineer to develop embedded real-time avionics systems. You will deliver high-performance, fault-tolerant software for constrained targets across undersea, terrestrial, air, hypersonic, and space domains, from design through verification and field deployment.

The role requires 5–10 years in software engineering, strong C/C++, and RTOS experience. You will work in Cambridge, MA, and lead a small team while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field; master’s preferred.
5+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related field.
Experience in embedded software development with RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity, Zephyr, FreeRTOS).
C/C++ and assembly programming languages; excellent debugging on embedded targets.

Responsibilities

Independently execute task assignments.
Lead architecture decisions and mentor a small team of software developers.
Design algorithms and analyze designs for performance and functionality.
Develop and execute software tests to ensure conformance to requirements.
Communicate with customers and stakeholders to establish requirements and deliverables.
