Job summary

Anduril Industries in Waltham, MA, seeks a Lead Software Architect to define the architectural direction of large-scale, real-time C2 software powering air and missile defense and battlespace awareness. You will lead design decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure robust, production-grade systems from edge deployments to backend infrastructure.

You will collaborate with researchers to transition advanced algorithms into deployed code and address performance, testability, and maintainability

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ and/or Rust, including asynchronous and multithreaded programming
• Proven experience architecting large-scale, production-grade codebases in real-time or high-performance environments
• Deep experience with numerics-heavy real-time software
• Strong foundation in applied mathematics and probability, linear algebra, optimization

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the architectural direction of large-scale C2 software powering real-time data fusion and actuation
• Lead design and implementation of performant, real-time numerics-heavy algorithms in Rust and/or C++ at production scale
• Partner with research scientists to transition prototypes into deployed code
• Make high-leverage architectural trade-offs across performance, modularity, and maintainability
• Mentor senior engineers and set coding standards, CI/CD practices
• Engage with DoD customers to ensure mission-critical outcomes
• Troubleshoot complex system issues spanning software and math assumptions
• Contribute to prototyping, modeling, field testing, and deployment
