Job summary

Anduril Industries in Waltham, MA is seeking a Lead Software Architect to define the architectural direction for large-scale, real-time C2 software powering air and missile defense and battlespace awareness.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive performance vs. modularity trade-offs, and work closely with DoD customers to deliver mission-critical systems from edge devices to backend infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ and/or Rust, including asynchronous and multithreaded programming (e.g., Tokio).
• Proven experience architecting large-scale, production-grade codebases in real-time or high-performance environments.
• Deep experience writing performant, real-time software with numerics-heavy algorithms.
• Strong foundation in applied mathematics: probability, linear algebra, optimization, differential equations, statistics.
• Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, git, and microservices.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the architectural vision for large-scale C2 software systems ingesting and fusing data in real time.
• Lead the design and implementation of real-time numerics-heavy algorithms in Rust and/or C++ at production scale.
• Mentor and technically lead senior engineers, establishing coding standards and CI/CD best practices.
• Engage with DoD customers to ensure successful outcomes for mission-critical needs.
• Contribute to prototyping, modeling, field testing, and deployment across the software lifecycle.
