Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a senior software engineer to lead a small, high-impact team while staying hands-on in design, implementation, and reviews. You will write production-grade C++ and Python for mission-critical systems and drive engineering practices across CI/CD, testing, and collaboration.

The role spans from prototyping to deployed solutions, leveraging high-performance software and complex math to advance autonomy and AI capabilities for defense applications.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership while continuing to contribute as a hands-on individual contributor.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Big data/NoSQL/database technologies.
• Software engineering: design, algorithms, testing, optimization.
• Machine learning: supervised and unsupervised learning, clustering, classification.
• Applied mathematics: differential equations, linear algebra, optimization, statistics.
• Engineering: controls, estimation theory, digital signal processing.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical direction of a small, high-impact team while remaining hands-on in design, implementation, and code review.
• Mentor and up-level junior and mid-level engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Write production-quality C++ and Python powering mission-critical systems and establish engineering excellence (CI/CD, unit tests, large-codebase collaboration).
• Prototype state-of-the-art software in an agile environment and guide path from prototype to deployed implementation.
• Own all aspects of the software development lifecycle and navigate ambiguity and trade-offs.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to colleagues, customers, and non-technical stakeholders.
