Job summary

The City of Suffolk is seeking an experienced Appraiser III to conduct real property assessments for complex properties, analyze market data, and support reassessment processes.

You will present findings, testify as needed, train junior staff, and use CAMA/GIS tools to update records. A bachelor’s degree and IAAO coursework are preferred, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of real property appraisal principles and practices.
• Experience with complex property assessments and hearings preferred.
• Ability to supervise and train junior appraisers.

Responsibilities

• Assess land, residential, commercial and industrial properties and improvements.
• Conduct hearings on proposed assessments before Board of Equalization.
• Prepare cases and testimony to explain assessments in court when needed.
• Maintain and update property assessment records using CAMA and GIS.
• Train less experienced appraisers and coordinate data collection.
