Job summary

Suffolk's Assessor's Office seeks an experienced Appraiser to perform complex real property appraisals, analyze market trends, and prepare property assessments for Board of Equalization hearings. The role involves data extraction, GIS/CAMA usage, and credible testimony in court when needed.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree (preferred) and is prepared to complete IAAO courses; proficiency in Excel, GIS tools, and appraisal software is required.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of real property appraisal methods and processes.
• Experience with property assessment and mass appraisal systems.
• Ability to present findings and testify in hearings or court.

Responsibilities

• Assess land, residential, commercial and industrial properties and building improvements.
• Conduct market data collection and analysis using GIS and CAMA tools.
• Prepare cases and testimony for Board of Equalization; provide credible court testimony when required.
• Conduct hearings on proposed assessments and communicate results to property owners.
