Job summary

City of Suffolk seeks an experienced Appraiser to assess diverse real property portfolios, develop values, and support annual reassessments. You will compile market data, review topography, zoning, and cost factors using CAMA and GIS tools.

The role requires conducting hearings, preparing cases, and presenting testimony before the Board of Equalization. Training of junior staff and collaboration with the Valuation Manager are essential components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred with specialized training in real property assessment.
• IAAO courses (101, 300, 102) completed or in progress within 18 months.
• Experience in real property appraisal or assessment and data entry/computers.

Responsibilities

• Assess land, residential, commercial and industrial properties and improvements.
• Conduct hearings and defend assessments before Board of Equalization.
• Prepare testimony and act as expert witness when needed.
• Train less experienced Appraisers and supervise data records.
