Job summary

First American is seeking an experienced attorney with 8–10 years of title underwriting expertise to support underwriting, guidance, and real estate settlement services. The role requires a Law Degree and active licensure in the appropriate state.

Location is remote within driving distance to Virginia with occasional local travel; strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills are essential to navigate complex underwriting and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Law degree required and bar admission in the employment state.
• Licensed to practice law, in good standing.
• 8–10 years of title underwriting experience.
• Virginia title underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with real estate law and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides underwriting support, counsel, and authorization for real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
• Underwrites title insurance using delegated authority and guidelines.
• Guides personnel in real estate settlement services and processes.
• Issues underwriting standards and guidelines per company processes.
• Communicates underwriting and settlement information to the team.
• Other duties as assigned
