Job summary

Piedmont Realty Trust is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support property management and perform monthly closings, ensuring timely and accurate REIT financial reporting.

The role requires 3+ years in real estate accounting, with a Bachelor's in Accounting preferred, and proficiency in MS Office; MRI and Nexus experience is a plus. Ability to work independently and in teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience, real estate accounting preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; MRI and Nexus a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong organization and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in teams to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger responsibilities within MRI for assigned properties, monthly closings (40%).
• Prepare/review entries: straight-line rent, AR, allowance for doubtful accounts, depreciation, amortization, prepaid rent, taxes, insurance, accruals (15%).
• Maintain supporting work papers and monthly closing checklist (10%).
• Review AP/cash disbursements, cash receipts, fixed assets handled by others (15%).
• Collaborate with property managers on variances, accruals, budgets, forecasts, and operating expense recoveries (15%).
• Assist Real Estate Accounting Group with audit support and other duties (5%).
