Job summary

Souder Law Group LLP in Newark, NJ is seeking a Senior Paralegal for the Real Estate Group to support complex transactions with a high degree of responsibility. The role requires independent work, strong client communication, and leadership of paralegals and support staff, with a minimum 1,800 billable hours per year and a compensation range of $80,000 to $110,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a real estate paralegal in a law firm.
• 7 to 10 years preferred, handling complex commercial and multi-state transactions.
• Essential experience in title, survey, and zoning review.
• Ability to meet a minimum of 1,800 billable hours per year.

Responsibilities

• Land use: Prepare land-use applications and coordinate with municipal authorities.
• Tax abatement: Support PILOT, tax-abatement, and financial-incentive applications.
• Commercial transactions: Support lease negotiations, purchase agreements, and financing docs.
• Transaction management: Manage all phases of transactions and closings.
• Document preparation and review: Draft and review purchase agreements, leases, deeds, and related documents.
• Regulatory due diligence: Analyze zoning ordinances and prepare related applications.
• Client and third-party coordination: Work with clients, title companies, surveyors, engineers, and agencies.
• Project oversight: Maintain transaction checklists and track milestones.
• Leadership and mentorship: Guide Paralegals and support staff.
• Technology: Utilize Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, Clio, SharePoint, and real estate software.
