Job summary

Irvine Company seeks an experienced accountant for the Apartments - Corporate division to apply consistent accounting principles, record and analyze financial data, and maintain integrity of financial records. The role supports timely financial reporting and month-end close in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include managing capital spending approvals, fixed asset capitalization, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit support, with advanced Excel and reporting skills

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Accounting.
• 3+ years accounting experience, preferably in Real Estate Management.
• CPA or MBA.
• Strong organizational skills; detail-oriented; self-motivated; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience in report writing.

Responsibilities

• Job cost accounting functions for portfolio-wide operating capital including review of contract/purchase order coding and non-PO invoices
• Review capital spending approvals for coding and proper approvals based on Delegation of Authority
• Accounting functions including correction of coding errors and month end close responsibilities
• Understand and become department expert on GAAP and Tax capitalization guidelines
• Prepare and submit fixed asset capitalization file and retirement files
• Assist with division operating capital planning/forecasting
• Prepare monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliations of asset and liability accounts
• Assist with audit requests as needed
• Responsible for timely and accurate ad-hoc reports as needed
• Leverage technology to improve current processes
• Perform other related duties as assigned
