Subway in Shelton, CT is seeking a Tech Lead, Web (React) to serve as the senior technical authority for the guest-facing web experience built on React and Next.js. You will set the technical direction, review production code, and ensure reliable, performant, accessible experiences across subway.com and related surfaces.

This hands-on role requires mentoring engineers, translating product intent into front-end architecture, and partnering with the Middleware team on API contracts.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on React and Next.js experience.
• Expertise in TypeScript and modern frontend tooling.
• Ability to translate product requirements into engineering tasks.
• Experience with performance optimization and accessibility (WCAG/ADA).
• Familiarity with API contracts and backend collaboration.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship production React/Next.js features.
• Own front-end architecture decisions and performance patterns.
• Lead code reviews and mentor teammates.
• Collaborate with backend/API teams on contracts.
• Ensure accessibility and Core Web Vitals compliance.
