Job summary

CertainTeed, a Saint-Gobain company, seeks a Senior Raw Material Planner in Malvern, PA to ensure timely raw material planning aligned with production schedules and supplier performance.

You will manage inventory, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement in planning processes, including SAP MRP settings, to support uninterrupted plant operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manages optimal inventory levels and supports uninterrupted delivery of raw materials in alignment with production schedules.
  • Ensures planned raw material deliveries are adjusted, rescheduled, cancelled, or expedited as needed based on consumption changes, production revisions, or interruptions.
  • Monitors inventory levels to ensure tank capacity is not exceeded and material availability supports planned operations.
  • Validates raw materials in the warehouse, including cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and BOM management.
  • Reviews slow-moving materials and recommends actions to minimize or remove excess inventory.
  • Serves as the primary site contact for raw material availability concerns, delivery issues, supplier disruptions, schedule changes, downtime, batch changes, and emergencies.
  • Maintains close communication with suppliers and plant stakeholders to respond to changes and reduce operational risk.
  • Communicates promptly with plant stakeholders regarding raw material availability and potential impact to operations.
  • Liaises with suppliers to resolve delivery issues, transportation challenges, material constraints, and service concerns.
  • Supports plant operations with escalated material quality claims and supplier-related issues, escalating to Category Managers as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a raw material planning and supplier roadmap to assess spend, supplier performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Serves as a site gatekeeper for purchasing policy compliance and internal control adherence.
  • Follows guidance regarding shortages, allocation, source changes, price changes, and related directions from Purchasing and Category Managers.
  • Supports month-end purchase order closure and other finance-led activities as needed.
  • Tracks and reports cost reduction activity as required.
  • Performs daily issue resolution by reconciling receipts, outstanding shipments, inventory status, and production schedule.
  • Monitors and reports supplier performance and uses e-tools to document and track issues.
  • Develops planning metrics and KPIs for S&OP processes.
  • Supports reduction of manual planning tools and improves SAP MRP settings.
  • Identifies risks to material availability and provides recommendations to improve planning accuracy, inventory control, and supplier performance.
  • Partners with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to support business continuity and operational performance.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.

Job description

The Senior Raw Material Planner is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and effective raw material planning to support uninterrupted plant operations. This role manages raw material availability, inventory coordination, supplier communication, issue resolution, and schedule alignment in partnership with the Raw Materials Team, Production Planning, Production, Warehouse leadership, Purchasing, Category Management, and external suppliers. The position plays a key role in supporting purchasing compliance, internal controls, supplier performance, inventory optimization, and continuous improvement of planning processes.

  • Manages optimal inventory levels and supports uninterrupted delivery of raw materials in alignment with production schedules.

  • Monitors inventory levels of managed raw materials to ensure tank capacity is not exceeded, and material availability supports planned operations.

  • Reviews slow-moving materials and recommends actions to minimize or remove excess inventory.

  • Develops and maintains a raw material planning and supplier roadmap to assess spend, supplier performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Serves as a site gatekeeper for purchasing policy compliance and adherence to internal control requirements.

  • Partners with plant leadership and cross‑functional teams to support business continuity and operational performance.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed and/or requested by management.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing industry with planning, scheduling and purchasing responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, diverse, dynamic, and fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills.

  • Solid understanding of MRP principles, settings, and typical supply chain planning calculations.
  • Experience working with suppliers, purchasing policies, and internal control requirements.
  • General knowledge of importing and exporting, including duties, policies, and laws, is desirable.
