Job summary

University of Kansas’s Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) seeks a Police Instructor Senior to serve as Rangemaster, directing range operations and delivering instruction across basic, advanced, and specialized courses at KLETC and statewide sites. You will develop curriculum and learning objectives for police subjects and oversee remedial training for students who fail qualifications.

Bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience as a full‑time certified law enforcement officer.
Effective written communication skills as evident in application materials.

Responsibilities

Serve as rangemaster for KLETC and ensure range facilities are ready for basic training and continuing education.
Conduct instruction for students in basic, advanced and specialized classes, seminars and workshops.
Schedule other KLETC instructional staff to conduct required remedial firearms training.
Maintain armorer certificates and weapons records; manage inventories and ammunition.
Use diverse instructional methodologies based on adult learning principles; review curriculum for changes.
Maintain facilities; facilitate outside agency use of the range; provide reports on needs and budgets.
Attend advanced training nationally to stay current; interact with regional academies.
Other duties as assigned.
