Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Railroad Bridge Engineer for offices in Sacramento, Bakersfield, or Fresno, CA. The role focuses on reviewing bridge designs, evaluating submittals, and resolving field engineering issues to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

The engineer serves as a technical liaison among design consultants, construction management, contractors, and stakeholders, supporting complex railroad bridge infrastructure delivery with strong coordination and QA.

Qualifications

• BA/BS plus 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• CA PE license or ability to obtain through reciprocity within six months of hire.
• Experience with AREMA, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Caltrans Manuals.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis software, bridge design software, and BIM coordination tools.

Responsibilities

• Review bridge designs, calculations, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Construction Managers, and contractors to resolve structural issues.
• Evaluate contractor proposals and field design changes for contract compliance.
• Support sequencing, constructability reviews, and risk assessments during construction.
• Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, and final acceptance documentation.
