Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Rail Vehicle Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Oakland, California .

Accountabilities:

• Ensure the definition of the Rail Vehicle System Architecture, by theidentification of the interfaces among the main on-boardtechnological sub-systems.
• Ensure that the Rail vehicle design is oriented to maintenanceeffectiveness and to use of expert diagnostic systems
• Execute the Verification activities of Rail vehicle interface documents,according to the V&V Plan
• Ensure the assessment of the Rail vehicle Design in order toachieve full integration with other sub-systems and components;
• Ensure the monitoring of Rail vehicle production and testing processin order to control key factors affecting interfaces and systemperformances.
• Participate in onsite tests relevant to the vehicle Integration (e.g.advice to issue resolution)
• Ensure the proposal of improvements and updates of the designstandards about Rail vehicle interfaces in accordance withprocess and technology improvements
• With regards to Rail vehicles, contribute to the functionalrequirements fulfilment in Design and Testing phase and to theresolution of the interfaces among Rolling Stock and the othersub-systems, by providing detailed description of the mainintegrated functions as well as main operating scenarios.
• KPI trends of the projects about Requirements Management

Required Skills:

• 5- 10 years' experience in on board equipment installation and testing on Rail vehicles.
• Knowledge in electrical wiring, functional scheme review, and mechanical installation.
• Ability to work in a complex project and team-work skills.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering orInformation Technology orEquivalent Technical Background

In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.

The salary range for this position is $126,000- $189,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
