Job summary

Parsons is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator - Rail and Transit Systems to join our Gateway Program team in the United States. You will lead life-cycle cost estimates for complex rail projects, manage uncertainty ranges, and develop optimization strategies for major infrastructure work such as the Hudson Tunnel Project and related systems.

Role requires 15+ years of estimating experience, strong knowledge of rail systems, and the ability to lead client deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years estimating experience in industrial and commercial projects.
• Experience with Systems - Traction Power, Signaling, MEP.
• Experience leading and presenting estimate deliverables to clients.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and estimating software.
• Knowledge of takeoff, markup structures and estimate documentation.
• Experience using industry estimating software.
• Willingness to travel and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop contingency proposals by identifying assumptions and risks.
• Prepare overall estimates with optimistic and pessimistic targets.
• Review and revise estimates as new information becomes available.
• Provide life-cycle costing for estimating components.
• Top-down conceptual estimating.
• Use comparative techniques where possible.
• Apply parametric methods when bottom-up is not feasible.
• Normalize top-down estimates for escalation and currency.
• Bottom-up measurement-based estimating.
• Produce detailed estimates from BOQ/take-off and activity-based costs.
