Job summary

DB E.C.O. North America seeks an experienced rail and transit consultant to lead passenger rail service planning across North America.

You will develop concepts, timetables, and capacity analyses in collaboration with operators, infrastructure owners, and planning agencies. The role requires a Master or M.Sc., 10+ years in railway operations planning, proficiency with Viriato or similar tools, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Transportation, Business Administration or similar (M.Sc.).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in railway operations planning, timetable development, or service design.
• Deep understanding of railway scheduling methodologies, capacity planning, and coordination between infrastructure managers and train operators.
• Proficiency with rail service planning tools, such as Viriato or similar timetable development or dynamic simulation software.
• Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with entrepreneurial mindset.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize passenger rail service concepts, operating plans and detailed timetables.
• Lead design and evaluation of timetables, capacity analyses, and infrastructure interfaces.
• Collaborate with operators, infrastructure owners and planning agencies for feasible service plans.
• Mentor consultants and analysts to foster technical development.
• Support workshops and presentations to communicate concepts to clients.
